Braskem has joined the companies Martiplast, from the domestic utilities segment, and Leroy Merlin, one of the largest store chains for the construction material market, to offer consumers 100% recycled plastic organizer boxes. The partnership is yet another initiative within the framework of the Wecycle platform, created by Braskem in 2015, which seeks to foster businesses that value plastic waste along the entire production chain, contributing to actions in favor of recycling, post-consumption and, the environment.

Bringing the sector together, Braskem will provide recycled polypropylene to Martiplast's <Ou> brand, which, by combining design and versatility, will produce an exclusive line of organizer boxes for sale in Leroy Merlin's 41 stores and e-commerce platform in Brazil.

Braskem's recycled PP originates from the big bags previously used by the company to transport and move its resins. The initial estimate is to use roughly 60 metric tons of recycled PP per year to produce organizer boxes of three different sizes. In the stores, the product can be identified by the Wecycle Platform and Martiplast labels, stating its origin from recycled plastic. In addition to the boxes, there is the possibility of expanding the partnership between the brands for the creation of other products that assist in the organization and decoration of houses.

"We believe that the growth of recycling will further contribute to the development and growth of the plastics industry. The partnership between Braskem, Martiplast and Leroy Merlin is another important action, which is able to have an impact on other market players and raising awareness among consumers," said Fabiana Quiroga, Director of the Recycling Area & Wecycle Platform at Braskem.

The Martiplast Group, through the <Ou> brand, always had the aim of bringing innovation and practicality to people through its products. Therefore, taking into account about their well-being and helping build a better world for everyone along with the Wecycle Platform project is so important to the company. "Our Group is aware that this partnership will allow us to contribute to an even better future by raising environmental awareness among buyers, preserving nature, helping recycling cooperatives, and turning innovation into the bridge to a more developed and sustainable world," said Juarez Martini, Director of the Martiplast Group.

"Leroy Merlin is a company that has sustainability in its DNA and believes in the actions that favor this practice. With that, making a partnership in which recycled materials become useful pieces for the daily life of the client falls into the philosophy that we spread internally. Leroy Merlin encourages and supports initiatives like this, starting from the industry," commented Adriano Galoro, Director of the Purchasing Center of Leroy Merlin Brasil.
