Momentive launches ultra clear LSR for injection molding applications
Momentive Performance Materials Inc. will showcase Silopren LSR 7180 liquid silicone rubber, a new addition to the Ultra Clear Silopren LSR 7000 series, at LIGHTFAIR International (LFI) in San Diego April 26 – 28. By providing improved flame resistance while maintaining good optical clarity and long-term color stability in harsh conditions, this grade offers new benefits to applications that require high flame retardant properties such as outdoor and specialty lightings.
“Momentive is a pioneer in LSR technology and this new offering further strengthens our robust product portfolio of liquid silicone rubbers for the LED lighting and optic industries,“ said Hee-Seok Hwang, Senior Global Project Manager. “For LED lighting applications such as optics, lenses, and light guides that require high lumen efficiency, excellent light transmission, and stability to heat, Silopren LSR 7180 liquid silicone rubber is an excellent material to consider.” In addition, it offers UL 94 V1 and 5VA flame class ratings and is f1 rated for outdoor use in accordance with UL 746C. This additional feature can offer significant performance enhancement for LED lighting and optical applications.
Silopren LSR 7180 liquid silicone rubber will be featured in a live-demonstration in collaboration with industry partner Sur-Seal in their booth at LFI 2016. This demonstration will showcase the processing qualities and benefits of Silopren LSR 7180 liquid silicone rubber for injection molding to make precise optic parts for a variety of LED lighting and optical related applications. The demonstration will be run on a BOY injection molding machine supported by a dosing system from Elmet.
