Husky demonstrated latest Hot Runner and Controller innovations

News 21.06.2016

On June 7 and 8, 2016, Husky Injection Molding Systems hosted a two-day Husky World Tour event providing technology and industry insights at its global hot runner manufacturing facility in Milton, Vermont. The event was attended by more than 90 molders and mold makers from across North America and showcased Husky’s broad range of innovative solutions for hot runners and controllers.

“The Vermont Husky World Tour event was a great opportunity to demonstrate our leadership in the industry. By exhibiting our newest solutions and innovations, and providing a showcase of our production and design capabilities, we established a clear commitment to our customers,” said Dave Morton, Husky’s Vice-President of Sales, Americas. “We’ve been able to gather valuable customer feedback, as well as communicate our strategy as a long-term partner, which is to help our customers maximize productivity, improve part quality and accelerate their time to market.”

Stefano Mirti, Husky’s President of Hot Runners and Controllers, kicked-off the event with an update that summarized recent investments in the business that continue to emphasize Husky’s commitment to supporting customers’ needs. The event also featured a keynote presentation from Jon Kurrle, SPI’s Executive Vice President – Advocacy on trends and the state of the plastics industry in North America. Additional technical presentations were delivered by Eastman Chemical Co. and RJG. A second keynote presentation was given by Simon Chrétien, Directeur General for Vallee de la Plasturgie.

A feature of the event was Husky’s Altanium® Servo Control technology, which simultaneously controlled three linear axes, two rotary axes and 24 zones of temperature using the new H-series control cards. The new Altanium® H-series cards offer the most precise control in the industry, the ability to record molding parameters, exceptional mold diagnostic capabilities and a five year warranty.

Industry-leading gate quality was also demonstrated with UltraSync-E™ servo electric stem actuation and Ultra Helix™ valve gate nozzles. Combined, these two technology elements virtually eliminate gate wear for millions of cycles, allowing molders to produce higher quality parts, reduce mold maintenance cost and downtime and produce quality gates equivalent to an ejector pin mark.

Also on display were technologies supporting the automotive industry, including the UNIFY Pre-assembled Manifold™ and LUCENT Angled Manifold System™, just one of a series of new manifolds targeted at angled gating. This gating technology is designed to address demanding automotive lighting applications and is in-line with Husky’s proven robustness and longevity standards.

Tours of the Milton manufacturing facility were a highlight of the event, demonstrating Husky’s investments in new capabilities and core manufacturing processes that are intended to support faster lead-times and time-to-market for Husky’s customers. In addition to the tours, several demonstrations were held inside Husky’s state-of-the-art Research Development Lab, where customers could witness first-hand many of Husky’s technologies functioning in an operating production environment.

Husky was also an exhibitor at the Amerimold 2016 show in Novi, Michigan on June 15-16 and will next be in Dusseldorf, Germany at the K-Show from October 19-26, 2016.
