inject 2017: the forum on injection molding in Schwertberg

News 25.01.2017
csm ENGEL Pressemitteilung inject das Spritzgiessforum 2 on 05 e5ed9a7088

The main auditorium of the technology center at ENGEL headquarters in Schwertberg (Austria) will host the next inject – injection molding forum.

The second issue of the injection molding forum organized by ENGEL AUSTRIA, will take place on March 7 and 8 in Schwertberg (Austria). The last year’s event has already been a big success; that is why the IMM manufacturer is expecting numerous visitors this spring. The forum is aimed at enabling plastic processors operating in the field of injection molding to better and faster understand the state-of-the-art R&D innovations, and to encourage expertize exchange.

The event will last for two days and be held in German. It is intended to gather plastic processing technicians, process optimization experts, production and quality managers, and CEOs. Most of the last year’s participants have already registered to the 2017 issue of the forum. Speaking of the extremely positive feedback following inject 2016, the head of training department of ENGEL AUSTRIA, Robert Brandstetter, commented: “Those who attended were struck by the many new ideas and tips they were able to take back to their businesses with a view to resolving specific challenges. In 2017, we want to bridge the gap once again between basic development and practical, day-to-day challenges. It is precisely this aspect that sets inject apart from other forums in the sector.”

Mental pabulum, equipment demonstrations and networking

The forum will combine theory and practice fruitfully. Sample components will be manufactured on a tiebar-less, all-electric ENGEL e-motion 80 TL machine in order to prove how digitalization opportunities can be effortlessly grabbed.

At the forthcoming issue of the forum, the reporters will center on the topics of injection molding equipment, molds, production monitoring and process optimization. The reporters will include ENGEL product managers and developers, as well as experts from the company’s partners. More precisely, the program of the forum will encompass the following:

  •     Choice of IMM and plasticizing units
  •     Tools for power calculation
  •     Hot runner tooling
  •     Close-contour cooling systems
  •     Smart temperature control innovations
  •     Smart assistance systems for enhancing process consistency
  •     Condition monitoring systems.

Live equipment demonstrations in the technology center of ENGEL will support these reports, emphasizing practical applications of technology and product innovations. An example will be the production of sample items on an ENGEL e-motion 80 TL injection molding machine. This fully electric and tiebar-less machine will exemplify the potential of smart IMMs: its CC300 control unit makes it possible for operators to simulate unstable process environment and monitor automatic process adjustments made by smart iQ systems.

The forum will as well open multiple possibilities of networking around the displayed equipment, during coffee breaks and the evening program.

Competitiveness enhanced by access to knowledge

ENGEL AUSTRIA invests steadily in R&D, being driven not only by specific applications but by base problems of the industry as well. Prof. Georg Steinbichler, Director of the Institute of Polymer Injection Molding and Process Automation, Johannes Kepler University Linz, and Senior Vice President of Technologies Research and Development, ENGEL AUSTRIA, underlined that “there is still significant room for improvement in the field of standard injection molding technology. We are continually exploiting that potential through new developments and opening it up to injection molding businesses. For injection molders, access to that knowledge is a key factor in securing competitiveness.”

The next issue of inject – the injection molding forum will be held on March 7 and 8, 2017, in Schwertberg (Austria) at the technology center at ENGEL headquarters. The attendance fee amounts to 490 €.
