The shorter dry cycles are available for all NETSTAL ELION models with aXos version 8.2.0. and up. "This update for the NETSTAL ELION se- ries incorporates the latest con- troller technology insights, which we had already applied to the NETSTAL ELIOS series," said Renzo Davatz, CEO of KraussMa ff ei HighPerformance AG. The addi ti onal speed is made possible through the adaptive optimization of the acceleration and deceleration ramps for the clamping unit drive. The result: Themaximummoving speed will be reached faster than before and can be maintained longer before the mov- ing mold plate is harmoniously deceler- ated and the toggle lever mechanism seamlessly transitions to building up the clamping force – all without com- promising mold protec ti on. Taking into account the poten ti al mold weight allows shorter produc- ti on cycles However, a shorter dry-cycle time does not automa ti cally mean a faster cycle under real produc ti on condi ti ons. That is why the new control algorithm takes into account the potential tool weight based on the set installation height and incorporates it in the con- trol of the accelera ti on and decelera ti on process. "This allows our customers to further speed up the produc ti on cycles on their NETSTAL ELION and, as a result, achieve further produc ti vity increases," emphasized Davatz. High-performance solu ti on for closure applica ti ons The following applica ti on example illustrates what this can mean in prac- tice: A NETSTAL ELION 4200 with a 96-cavity mold produces Type 29/25 HDPE closures. One closure weighs 1.23 grams. Thanks to the op ti mized control, the cycle can be shortened from 2.77 seconds to 2.6 seconds. The hourly output goes up from 124,750 to 132,920 closures, which equals an increase in produc ti vity of 6.5 percent. "Even before the update, the NETSTAL ELION already provided our custom- ers across the globe with the highest- performance solu ti on for closure ap- plications. Thanks to the optimized clamping unit control, users now ben- efit from additional increases in the e ff ec ti veness of the machines," said Davatz in summarizing the customer bene fi t.
