Alexan - der Heinsdijk, Business Development Manager at SFA Packaging: “The chal - lenge was two-fold: we were aiming for a packaging that was both sustainable and highly attractive. Switching to a mono-material packaging was the ob - vious way to go.” The original packaging, a combina - tion of cardboard and aluminum (tube), polyethylene (bottom) and polystyrene (PE/PS cap), was completely redevel - oped. With recyclability in mind, both shaker tube and cap became polypro - pylene packaging. The ‘old’ paper label was replaced by a PP in mold label that completely fuses with the PP shaker during the injection molding process. The mono-material PP packaging al - lows for easy sorting at home. During the recycling stage, the entire packag - ing can be processed into granulates, which can be reused to make new plas - tic packaging. A refined look Thanks to the excellent printing qual - ity, IML also effortlessly ticks the ap - pearance requirements box. “The offset printing technology at MCC Verstraete allowed for a com - bination of several appealing vibrant artworks with a limited number of used colors.
