Sepro robots on display at Plastico Brasil 2019

News 28.03.2019

After celebrating a second consecutive year of record sales in 2018, Sepro do Brasil is demonstrating the remarkable speed and flexibility of its 3-, 5-and 6-axis robots at Plastico Brasil 2019. The exhibition is scheduled for March 25 – 29 at Sao Paulo Expo Exhibition & Convention Center.

“Although the current political climate and economic turmoil in Brazil have affected the market, Sepro has been doing well,” says Oscar da Silva, South America Sales & Service Director. “We are looking forward to welcoming injection molders at Plastico Brasil and anticipate another strong year.”

Sepro is operating three robots, both big and small, at the show:
• Strong 50 — a multi-purpose pick-and-place robot sized for applications on IMMs up to 1600 tons. It features extra-long demolding and vertical strokes and a two-axis pneumatic wrist, which is offered in partnership Staubli Robotics to give the robot a total of 5 axes of motion. These large robots (the Strong line includes three models for IMMs up to 2600 tons) are often used in the automotive industry. The Strong 50 will be manipulating Audi engine covers at the show.
• 6X-140.is a small 6-axis articulated-arm Sepro-Yaskawa robot, which can be seen handling automotive headlamps. The 6X-140 is the second to smallest model in the product line, designed to serve molding machine up to 200 tons. Sepro-Yaskawa robots combine quality and durability at a price to satisfy the requirements of general and automotive applications. Models are available for IMMs up to 5000 tons.
• 5X-25 — one of three models in the Sepro 5X Line of robots, which offer five axes of servo-driven motion, the 5X-25 will be shown handling an automobile front-end grill. Unlike pneumatic wrists, which can only move in a continuous arc from 0° to 90° or 0° to 180°, the 5X wrists can move from 0 to 180° and 0 to 270° or any part of those rotations with absolute precision. This allows the robot to complete very complicated motions in all axes simultaneously and do it very precisely and with perfect repeatability. 5X Line robots are sized for IMMs from 30 to 800 tons.

Elsewhere on the fair, Romi is operating a Sepro Success 22 on a Romi 220T IMM. The application demonstrates what Sepro calls “open integration,” with the robot control mirrored on the molding machine HMI via virtual network computing (VNC). Open integration simplifies robot set up and operation.

Sepro Group is the fastest growing robot supplier in the global plastics injection-molding market. In 2018, the company marked its sixth consecutive year of record sales, reporting over EUR 133 million in turnover. Thanks to steady expansion of its product line and technology base, as well as growth in important global regions like Brazil, Sepro has been able to increase its sales by about 500% since the depths of the Financial Crisis in 2009.

About Sepro
Sepro was one of the first companies in the world to develop Cartesian beam robots for injection-molding machines, introducing its first CNC controlled “manipulator” in 1981. Today, Sepro Group is one of the largest independent sellers of robots in the world, offering a wider choice of robots than any supplier in the plastics industry. Three -, five-, and six-axis servo robots; special-purpose units; and complete automation systems, are all supported by the Visual control platform developed by Sepro especially for injection molders. This unique controller is a key component in what the company refers to as ‘open integration’ – a collaborative approach to equipment connectivity and interoperability that can be tailored to exactly suit the specific needs processors and injection-molding OEMs. At Sepro, customers “Experience Full Control.”
