formnext 2019 was a resounding success for ARBURG. Four freeformers and the interactive stations, where functional parts could be handled, again made this year's ARBURG trade fair appearance a real crowd puller.
freeformer 300-4X delivers technology outlook
The freeformer 300-4X was developed on the basis of the freeformer 300-3X, and also has three discharge units. A four-axis part carrier with a new rotation axis and a fibre feed unit is at the heart of the system. It allows processing of externally fed continuous glass or carbon fibres to produce resilient functional components. A hand orthosis locally reinforced with carbon fibre was produced as an application example.
freeformer 300-3X processes high-temperature plastics
A freeformer 300-3X with a build chamber capable of being heated up to 200 degrees Celsius was presented at formnext 2019. Using Ultem 9085, an original material approved for the aerospace industry as an example, the exhibit demonstrated how cog wheels and other complex components can be manufactured from high-temperature materials.
freeformer 200-3X produces resorbable implants
In ARBURG's special exhibition area dedicated to medical technology, a freeformer 200-3X processed an innovative resorbable original material from Evonik, demonstrating the advantages of the APF process for this demanding industry. Implant plates were manufactured from Resomer LR 706 (a composite of poly L-lactide-co-D, L-lactide and ß-TCP), which can be implanted directly into the body in the treatment of bone fractures. The polymer composite is modelled on human bone and contains 30% ceramic additives. This makes the component stronger and also releases calcium to promote bone regeneration.
ARBURG receives fAMily Award
Being a partner from the very beginning, ARBURG received the "fAMily Award" from trade fair organiser Mesago on 19 November 2019, the first day of formnext. The Lossburg-based machine manufacturer has been a firm supporter of the formnext concept right from the start and is also active in the trade fair advisory committee. ARBURG has contributed to making the event in Frankfurt a. M. the world's leading trade fair for additive manufacturing (AM) since it was founded five years ago. At formnext 2019, stand personnel from Europe, the USA and China presented four freeformers and numerous sample parts.
