With a total of 13 machines BOY is going to present a cross-section of its product range at the plastics trade fair in Friedrichshafen. At its booth the machine manufacturer located in Neustadt-Fernthal will exhibit six injection moulding machines. Seven more BOY injection moulding machines can be seen at booths of partner companies.
BOY at the fair in 2022 |
The focus lies on the sustainable use of plastics and the highest possible proportion of recyclate. BOY will also demonstrate the processing of bio-based and sustainable materials in some of its prepared applications. The injection moulding machines with Procan ALPHA 6 control and the latest drive and plasticising technologies, enable a very energy-efficient and thus cost-effective production and they require only a comparatively small footprint. Saving energy with minimum space requirements and maximum economic efficiency has been the focus of the BOY developments for 55 years.
BOY injection moulding machines at Fakuma 2023 - very compact even with automation
"At this year's trade fair, we are focusing on compact automation solutions and the energy-efficient processing of plastics" explains Alfred Schiffer, Managing Partner of Dr. Boy GmbH & Co. KG. Five of the six exhibits on the BOY booth are equipped with a demand-oriented automation.
Both, BOY's own handling system LR 5 as well as automation solutions from partners will be demonstrated. While the BOY-handling system LR 5 has so far mainly been used to remove parts from the mould, BOY will demonstrate at Fakuma 2023 that the handling system can also be used for other applications. With a BOY 35 E VV insert moulding machine, an additional input terminal, the LR 5 handling device and a further assembly automation, metal insert parts are overmoulded to form T-shaped handles then removed from the mould by the LR 5 and supplied to a Pick-and Place automation.
There, the four bits individually selected by the visitor are inserted into the plastic handle. The LR 5 then places the assembled sets on a conveyor belt and the visitor receives a self-assembled tool set.
BOY and its partners will present automation solutions on three other machines. In cooperation with the company igus, located in Cologne, two exhibits will be shown. These are the BOY XS E with a downstream sprue separator and a BOY 35 E on which a room gantry consisting of igus low-cost automation components will be presented.
Furthermore, a 6-axis robot integrated under the protective housing of a BOY 25 E is used for the parts removal and further processing. With this application, mini beer mugs from a well-known toy manufacturer are removed from the mould, fed to a laser marking station and then placed on the conveyor belt - everything fully integrated under the protective housing of the BOY injection moulding machine. The laser marking on the mini beer mugs is selected by the visitors. For this application an input terminal is available, so that the trade fair visitor can order his or her personal beer mug.
The entire BOY trade fair team is looking forward to a well-attended event in Friedrichshafen.
