Innovation driven by sustainability – hot runners and controllers
“For nearly seven decades Husky has been an industry pioneer at the forefront of innovation, focusing on the development of sustainable solutions,” said Sean Hoy, Husky’s Vice President of Sales, Hot Runners and Controllers. “We’re particularly excited this year to demonstrate how we're supporting this goal by enabling the use of more bio and sensitive resins, designing for recyclability, and improving energy efficiency. From food and beverage containers to medical products and consumer goods, our goal is to develop solutions that promote circularity, sustainability, and help make the world a better place.”

Fakuma marks Husky’s global debut of some of the company’s most advanced technologies to date. Highlights that are currently on display include:
• Ultra SideGate™ Technology 2.0: Offering a wider operating window and simplified system maintenance. A new heater design and optimized head and tip reduce wear and improve mold integration.
• UltraHelix™ Valve Gating: Provides the longest run-time cycle performance, reducing production time and spare part costs.
• LSR (Liquid Silicone Rubber) injection molding: How it differs from traditional thermoplastic injection molding, the benefits of runner-less molding, and reducing waste with cold deck technology.
• UltraSync® Technology: For consistent part filling with reduced nozzle pitch ranges and 100% valve stem synchronization.
• UltraMelt™ Technology: An award-winning hot runner system engineered for the efficient and sustainable molding of bio and sensitive resins. UltraMeltTM is a recipient of this year’s Innovation in Bioplastics award.
• Altanium® family of mold controllers: Equipped with Husky’s groundbreaking Active Reasoning Technology (ART 2.0) and DataWave 2.0 Technology. Ideal for high cavitation and stack tools, enabling increased productivity and reduced cost.
• UltraShot™ Technology: Enables molders to improve part quality, consistency, and repeatability by incorporating hot melt delivery and injection processes specifically engineered to mold medical devices and consumables.

Enabling the medical market segment
“PET is one of small number of materials approved for use in medical devices and for extended use in the human body. In fact, more than 70% of today’s medical consumables utilize PET and other medical grade polymers for their production,” said Thomas Bontempi, Husky’s General Manager, Medical Business. “At Fakuma, we’re showcasing how our advanced technologies and comprehensive support enable medical device producers to achieve precision, reliability, and efficiency in applications ranging from pre-filled syringes, auto-injectors, pen-injectors, blood collection tubes, reaction cups, pipette tips, petri dishes, and more.”

At the show, Husky is highlighting technology that enables several key medical applications and processes, including:
• Blood collection tubes: Following the company’s proven PET system platform, Husky’s integrated ICHOR™ system includes mold, hot runner, controller, press, take out automation, and all ancillaries. The system is versatile, extending beyond blood collection tubes to include various medical devices and is compatible with different mold types.
• Pipettes tips: Produced on molds up to 64-cavities enabling robotic connection for removal. Yielding leading cycle times at or below five seconds, with concentricity adjustment for optimal results.
• Auto-injectors and pen injectors: These complex components are primarily molded from technical resins and require intelligent molding solutions, such as lift, strip or servo driven activation. High precision mold manufacturing is required to enable consistent, risk-free production.
• High volume, to complex 192-cavity x 192-cavity stack molds, to low cavitation production molds for high production or extremely critical needs.

Reducing part variability and enhancing predictability is key to successful medical injection molding. The integration of Husky’s proven hot runner and controller technology, together with Schöttli's proprietary gating technologies enable the precise and efficient production of high-quality parts for medical applications.

In addition to exhibiting, Husky’s expert team is also taking multiple stages throughout the week in Conference Center East to share valuable insights and trends impacting the industry.
