Mitsubishi Chemical Corporation (Head Office: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; President and CEO: Manabu Chikumoto) has decided to move its subsidiary Mitsubishi Chemical Polymer Nantong Co., Ltd., currently located in Nantong City, Jiangsu Province, China, to a new location. The company primarily manufactures and sells acrylic resin molding material (PMMA).
The Background of the Decision
The Company’s PMMA manufacturer and seller Mitsubishi Chemical Polymer Nantong Co., Ltd., has operated in the Nantong Economic and Technological Development Area since 2001. A request for relocation has been issued to chemical businesses located in the northern district of the area under the Nantong Economic and Technological Development Area’s policies based on the Yangtze River Protection Law of the People's Republic of China, effective from 2021, and the related laws and regulations. Mitsubishi Chemical Corporation gave this request careful consideration and decided to relocate Mitsubishi Chemical Polymer Nantong Co., Ltd., to the southern district of the area.
China accounts for approximately 40% of the global demand for PMMA, representing one of the most important markets for our PMMA business. It is essential to maintain and expand a local sales and manufacturing base in order to make greater strides in the Chinese PMMA market and achieve the goals set forth in our New Medium-Term Management Plan 2029, released in November 2024.
Mitsubishi Chemical Corporation will continue its global pursuit of PMMA production in the optimal location and strive to achieve world-leading profitability and build a stable supply and sales system.
