Trexel, provider of MuCell microcellular foam injection molding technology, has filled its global sales position with Frank Schumann. Since July 1, 2026, he has been leading the worldwide expansion of the company’s customer business, bringing a fresh perspective to the sales strategy.

What drives him? “My motivation is the firm belief that foaming is a technology with real game-changer potential. It deserves a far bigger role than the one currently attributed to it in the market,” says Schumann.
With this new role, Trexel is deliberately setting new priorities: the company’s evolving structures offer the opportunity to sharpen MuCell technology’s market presence and strategically realign its sales approach.
Over 20 years at home between engineering and sales
Frank Schumann brings more than 20 years of experience in the plastics industry. In various roles – from processor to raw material manufacturer – he has become a true expert at the interface between commercial value and technical solutions. This gives him the perfect combination for his new role: in-depth knowledge of raw materials, components, and technology, paired with a genuine customer perspective, having spent many years himself on the user side of the technology.
“I’ve been involved with foaming for several decades now – alongside many other specialty processes in the injection molding world. I deeply believe that this technology still has significantly more market potential than has been recognized so far,” says Schumann.
Foaming as a future technology with enormous potential
“Together with my team, I want to make the benefits of MuCell even more tangible for our customers throughout the development process – predictable, quantifiable, from design all the way to the finished, lighter, and more cost-effective component,” Schumann explains. “But it’s also about making injection molding foaming a genuine industrial standard overall.”
As a technology leader, Trexel supports its customers from the initial feasibility analysis through to the finished product – with engineering support, tooling consulting, MuCell equipment technology, as well as comprehensive service and process support. This positions Trexel not merely as a conventional equipment manufacturer, but rather as a holistic solution partner for its customers.
Focus for the first few months: customer proximity and global visibility
In his first months at Trexel, Schumann is setting clear priorities: “We want to reach out personally to the customers and market players worldwide as quickly as possible – and make MuCell technology more visible internationally,” says Schumann.
