Tool, pattern and mould making in all its diversity

Tool, pattern and mould making in all its diversity

Articles

With MOULDING EXPO 2019 from 21 to 24 May 2019, Messe Stuttgart will not only stage the most important European trade fair for tool, pattern and mould making. In five concurrent events trade visitors will also obtain deep insights into the automotive component supply industry and will be able to become acquainted with trends in plastic production and additive production, forge contacts with purchasers in the industry and experience hybrid lightweight construction live. In order to achieve ideal interaction between the events, every visitor and/or participant in the concurrent events will have free admission to MOULDING EXPO.

Value-added for visitors and exhibitors
Exhibitors at MOULDING EXPO appreciate the wide-ranging offering relating to the trade fair. "The parallel events are enthralling," says Anton Schweiger, Managing Director of the renowned mould making company of the same name from Uffing, which has a workforce of 75 employees. "All relevant areas and interfaces in the industry are therefore covered in Stuttgart. The Who’s who is present there – among suppliers and customers alike. MOULDING EXPO is therefore becoming precisely the platform that we need." This is another reason why Schweiger is taking part in MOULDING EXPO for the first time in 2019. The entrepreneur also wants to take time during the trade fair to visit the GKV/TecPart Forum and the Automotive Shows. "We must always think according our customers' processes! Of great interest to us are the areas involving complete assemblies which combine different, complex multi-component injection moulded parts. Both exhibitors and visitors to the Automotive Shows are precisely our target group.”

Purposeful networking among equals
Andreas Kissler is the Hot Runner Technology Manager at Haidlmair. The engineer is looking forward to the exchange of information about additive production technology with experts from the Fraunhofer Institute for Manufacturing Engineering and Automation (IPA): "I hope this will provide me with important insights over and beyond the current state of the art of tool tempering. When it's a question of a short cycle time and perfect surfaces, it is essential to understand the many correlating process parameters in injection moulding. This is the only way in which I can satisfy the customer's high demands and solve complex tasks.“

The Austrian specialists for high-performance injection moulding tools employ 550 people worldwide and have 290 employees at the head office in Nussbach. They are intending to launch their Flat Die Unit (FDU), an open or a mechanically closing hot runner nozzle system, on the market at MOULDING EXPO 2019.

The FDU was developed in 2016 and has now been patented.

"You simply have to belong there"
According to Franz Tschacha, Managing Director of Deckerform, the concentrated expertise at the Stuttgart Trade Fair Centre and during the parallel events makes MOULDING EXPO the most important meeting point for the industry to exchange information and experiences between researchers and leading manufacturers. "I am especially interested in the technological events, i.e. the Automotive Shows or the GKV/TecPart Forum. They have the highest concentration of trade visitors. You simply have to belong there," says the entrepreneur. By contrast, purchasers in the industry obtain an extensive overview of the breadth and complexity of tool, pattern and mould making at MOULDING EXPO and during the BME Forum. Deckerform, the Aichach-based company with a workforce of 80 employees, will also be presented at MOULDING EXPO as a Toyo sales partner and, thus, as a system partner for turnkey solutions – from product development, analytics and tool construction and mould making through to processing of plastic parts. "MOULDING EXPO is the trade fair in Germany where you can find out about the art of tool construction," says Tschacha. "The concurrent events precisely provide a perfect addition to the trade fair. Everything relating to today's modern tool making is presented in Stuttgart.”

High five – 5 first-class parallel events
The Automotive Shows of the British organiser UKi Media & Events in the four halls on the south side of the trade fair grounds will focus on the products and services of the automotive component supply industry from 21 to 23 May 2019. These Automotive Shows will present vehicle components and high-tech production solutions – from plastic products and stamped and formed parts through to metal casting applications.

The GKV/TechPart Association will provide an overview of trends in plastic production during the new "Plastic Products Forum", which will be held in the foyer of the L-Bank Forum at Messe Stuttgart from 21 to 23 May 2019. This Forum will show how technical components are developed based on the appropriate use of materials and moulds.

The Fraunhofer Institute for Manufacturing Engineering and Automation (IPA) will highlight additive production technologies during its User Forum in the Conference West area on 22 May 2019. Product and process innovations will be presented while visitors will receive practice-oriented information and have the opportunity to exchange experiences. Topics such as automation, quality assurance or the latest material developments for additive production will be discussed in an industrial context.

Anyone wanting to discover the purchasers' view of the tool, pattern and mould making industry will be able to do so during the Forum of the Federal Association for Materials Management, Purchasing and Logistics (BME) in the seminar room of the Press Centre. In this event members of the BME will discuss the current challenges in the procurement of tools for stamping, bending and forming parts, as well as for plastic parts or injection moulded plastic parts.

The 6th Hybrid Lightweight Construction Technology Day will be devoted entirely to the topic of digitalisation. The trade fair week will be opened by the Conference sponsored by the Baden-Wurttemberg State Agency for Lightweight Construction on 20 and 21 May 2019. The event venue will be the Filder Hall in Leinfelden-Echterdingen, which is just four kilometres from Messe Stuttgart. Visitors can look forward to 22 exhibitors from the lightweight construction industry and 50 speakers.

About Moulding Expo
Whether a hidden champion or a large group, the best that the first-class international tool, pattern and mould making industry and its suppliers have to offer will meet for the third time at Moulding Expo from 21 to 24 May 2019. In 2017 more than 760 exhibitors and around 14,000 trade visitors came to the large industry meeting point at Messe Stuttgart.
