At the annual event in Guangzhou BOY, one of the leading worldwide manufacturers of injection moulding machines with clamping forces up to 1,250 kN, showcased a fully automated production line including packaging machine. Wolfgang Schmidt, Export Manager at Dr. Boy GmbH & Co. KG, spoke about Chinaplas 2019 and new tendencies in the Chinese market.

BOY has been marketing its injection moulding machines in China for decades. What we see now is changing priorities in China. We feel that automation which is also this year's focus at the event is getting more involved in the production chain here. The product quality is increasing year after year. One should not think of China as a country producing cheap and simple items any more. Chinese market is striving for more complex parts production and the quality accepted in Europe and the USA. They realize that cannot be achieved using cheap equipment of low quality segment. Our Chinese customers we have been working with for decades like our machines because they are of high class performance, in the first place. The very compact, durable machines work precisely, energy-saving and thus highly economically. We deliver all the range of our products to China, the same as we do to Europe.

For instance, our BOY 35 E presented at Chinaplas 2019 is our best seller. It is very precise, reliable and easy to handle. All these features ensure easier maintenance of product quality which is getting more relevant for the Chinese market.
Of course, China is very significant marketplace for us ranking in the top 5 markets. Our best salesman among all BOY distributors in 2018 is Andy Wong, General Manager of Trillion Machinery Holdings, our agent in China. The “Distributor of the year 2018” award was presented to the South China BOY representative here at Chinaplas 2019. That is a clear message that Chinese market is one of the most important for BOY. Trillion who has been acting as a distributor in the region of Hong Kong and South China for 22 years and servicing an installed base of several thousand machines covers the complete machine and process range of BOY.
Another focus at Chinaplas 2019 was processing of two-component liquid silicone (LSR) on a BOY 22 A machine.
About 6 years ago we also developed technology to upgrade machines with an additional component. This independent unit increasing the component number when installed on the existing machine has recently become one of the best sellers here in China.
We are highly satisfied with the attendance during the four days of the trade fair. We had a lot of promising conversations at the booth.
