It acts as a flexible counterpart to the mold: filled with process steam at temperatures of up to 200 °C, it presses the tire blank from the inside out into the mold segments. This is the only way to ensure that the tread pattern is reproduced in detail and that the various rubber compounds are optimally bonded.
While bladders used to be manufactured mainly by pressing, injection molding offers significant advantages for production:
-Homogeneity: The rubber compound is distributed much more evenly during injection.
-Precision: Wall thickness tolerances are achieved that are hardly possible with conventional methods.
-Durability: Thanks to the higher structural quality, an injection-molded bladder can withstand approx. 300 to 400 heating cycles – a significant increase in service life.
