The company specializes in gear molding, insert molding, and bobbin molding, they are a true custom molder and focus on tight tolerance, precision plastic parts. Within the past two years, the company has grown substantially, to over 40 machines, including seven new Sodick presses (4-30 ton, 1-60 ton, 1-100 ton, and 1-150 ton). They have a complete tool room to create custom plastic injection molds.

“We were looking to increase overall capacity, replace aging equipment, and improve production and our tight tolerance offerings,” stated Kyle Ketterhagen, Director of Sales and Marketing for MPM Plastics. The company has also grown its employee count over the last two years, going from 45 to 70.

The primary industries MPM Plastics focuses on are medical, automotive, food industry and water filtration. As of late, they have been working on plastic parts for motor components, ventilators, EKG machines, linear actuators and cell phone towers.

“Our number one priority is the customer, and that’s why people come back to us and refer us to their colleagues,” Ketterhagen stated. This is also something that the team at MPM Plastics expects from their suppliers. “When we call Sodick, we have immediate, or almost immediate phone support and they show up the next day,” Ketterhagen explains. “This has been a huge benefit to us and unusual in this industry.”

Ketterhagen explained that the team at MPM Plastics can rely on the Sodick equipment because it’s a solid product that allows them to work on multiple applications. The process engineers enjoy working with the Sodick equipment as the controls are easy to use and the equipment enables them to work on jobs that require tight tolerances – expanding their opportunities for new business opportunities.
