Daher’s Highly Loaded Thermoplastic Wing Rib was developed for the next generation of commercial aircraft. This breakthrough in aerospace composites and sustainable aviation technology was achieved through a powerful collaboration involving Victrex, Luxembourg Institute of Science and Technology (LIST), Cetim – Centre technique des industries mécaniques, AniForm Engineering B.V. and Direction Générale de l’Aviation Civile, addressing key challenges shaping the future of aviation: decarbonisation, cost efficiency, and high-rate production.
Advancing Aerospace Structures with Lightweight, Sustainable Thermoplastics
The Highly Loaded Thermoplastic Wing Rib made with VICTREX LMPAEK™ thermoplastic composites represents a major step forward in aerospace composite technology. Key features include:
• Carbon-Fibre-Reinforced thermoplastic (CFRTP) composite rib reaching up to 64 plies (12 mm)
• Optimised design improving mass-to-cost ratio
• Direct Stamping® to cut cycle time and manufacturing cost
• Infrared welding enabling fast, rivet-free assembly
