Taking place on April 28th 2016, the Additive Manufacturing Symposium, organised by the Working Group Additive Manufacturing (AM AG) within the VDMA, will focus on the potential to create value through the use of layer manufacturing technologies in mechanical engineering.
The broad interest of mechanical engineers in the use of generative manufacturing processes for industrial use has become abundantly clear since the establishment of the AM AG 18 months ago. There are nearly 100 members from various fields: mechanical engineers, suppliers, service providers and researchers who understand that while 3D printing technologies are key for competitiveness, it is important to understand the user, for whom the innovative use of generative manufacturing is useful and profitable.
"Rock-solid engineering companies have discovered layer manufacturing technologies for themselves and implement these technologies successfully for demanding applications ... These recipes for success, we want and need in mechanical engineering," said Rainer Gebhardt, Project Manager of the AM AG.
"The industry takes the opportunities and challenges seriously. This is also visible in fact that large and experienced plant engineers have taken the AM technology into their portfolio."
