Technology meets Digital

Technology meets Digital

News 04.10.2018

Technology, digitalization, future. Under the motto "Technology meets Digital," the KraussMaffei Group will present trend-setting industry solutions at Fakuma (October 16–20, Hall A7, Stand 7303/7304). Netstal will showcase the ELIOS 4500, the model with the smallest clamping force in a series built for top performance. The Swiss injection molding machines convince with top speeds, total precision and the highest energy efficiency – and they are accessible online at any time when using the AnalytiX production monitoring system.

Netstal underscores its performance leadership at Fakuma with the ELIOS 4500-2900

At Fakuma, Netstal will demonstrate its performance leadership in the thin-walled packaging segment. With an ELIOS 4500-2900, the Swiss mechanical engineering company is sending a particularly attractive injection molding machine to the Friedrichshafen trade fair halls. 12 cm polypropylene plant pots will be manufactured in a Glaroform mold with six cavities. In order to make sure that things don't get boring, the pots will be injection-molded in various colors. UCC is providing the color master batches. A Brink Automation robot will remove and stack the finished pots. During this application, the ELIOS 4500 will operate with a cycle time of approx. 3 seconds. The flow path/wall thickness ratio is 331:1. "The ELIOS series has been a total hit with regard to performance, precision and energy efficiency. Our customers from the demanding packaging industry heap effusive praise on the series because it gives them decisive competitive advantages," explains Netstal CEO Renzo Davatz.

Hybrid drive concept for maximum performance and the lowest energy consumption
"A key factor for the success of Netstal's ELIOS series is the unique drive system of the clamping unit with electrical movement and the hydraulically supported generation of the complete clamping force," added Davatz. Expressed in numbers using the example of the machine at the trade fair, this means a 1.5-second dry cycle with a clamping force of 450 tons.

Thanks to a high efficiency and the recuperation of kinetic energy, the operation of the ELIOS machines is also extremely energy-efficient. The consumption of the trade fair exhibit is approx. 0.59 kilowatt hours per kilo of material, which translates to 9 watts per pot. "Together with our high-performance injection units with dynamic two-valve technology and the many custom equipment options, with ELIOS we are offering our customers a performance package that is currently unrivaled on the market," said Davatz.

Mobile production monitoring with AnalytiX

Production monitoring with AnalytiX regardless of the time or place
Control and complete traceability are issues that are becoming increasingly important. "Producers want the ability to effortlessly monitor their production and they also want to be able to quickly identify and eliminate disturbances. With our AnalytiX mobile production monitoring system, Netstal users always have their entire injection-molding production at their fingertips in the form of an app," said Davatz. The automated analyses of processes and machine conditions save time and offer efficiency increases to our customers. Using intelligent indicators, trends and performance deviations of individual machines can be detected at a glance. Data security is a priority at Netstal. All information is hosted in the secure Netstal cloud in Switzerland and is not accessible to third parties. User management and the granting of access rights are controlled entirely by the customer and can be set up flexibly via the new Netstal e-Service.
