On June 5th, 2019, the 8000m² LIT Open Innovation Center and the LIT Factory in Linz was inaugurated. The goal of the Open Innovation Center is to bring research, economy and industry closer together. motan, along with other well-known companies, is a member of the consortium, which will advance process innovation in the areas of plastics engineering and digitalization.

The LIT Factory will not only be used as a learning factory for training purposes, but also as a show room and testing space, as well as a research facility for fundamental research in the plastics processing industry.
The LIT factory is equipped with a motan drying, conveying and gravimetric dosing system to supply 2 Engel injection molding machines. In the future, the system will be explanded to incorporate a Leistritz extruder. The system contains various motan components from the areas drying, conveying, controls, dosing and mixing.
The system has been designed to allow for flexible operation in regards to materials and throughputs, as is necessary for a research facility. New product developments of motan units will also be able to be initiated and tested in the LIT Factory.
