Gerd Liebig steps down from his role at Sumitomo (SHI) Demag. After almost 10 impactful years, he has officially passed the baton to Christian Maget and Anatol Sattel. Mr. Liebig leaves behind a legacy of major strategic achievements, from steering our focus toward the industries automotive, packaging, medical, electronics, and consumer to expanding the company's presence in the European market with new subsidiaries in Hungary, Spain, Italy, and the Czech Republic.
With his vision and decisive actions — such as the complete shift from small hydraulic machines to all-electric ones — he played a significant role in paving the way for where we stand as a company today: the world market leader in all-electric injection moulding. In difficult times, Mr. Liebig always stood by the team. During the COVID-19 pandemic and economic fluctuations, he was committed to preserving all jobs, ensuring stability and support for everyone. His leadership, in both good and challenging times, has left a lasting impact on the company.
As he himself says: "Our company’s team spirit is just awesome. Everyone is working very concentrated, and all are eager to perform well. I also appreciated the great teamwork in international sales and with our Japanese colleagues. From this, real friendships have been growing."
