At the “Plasticising” Expert Corner, ENGEL will introduce new technologies aimed at further increasing efficiency, precision, and quality in plastics production. This Expert Corner will focus on ENGEL's range of shut-off nozzles, with special attention given to the newly developed rotary slide shut-off nozzle, the innovative spherical check valve, and the high-performance screws.

Rotary Slide Shut-off Nozzle: Fast and Durable
ENGEL’s newly developed rotary slide shut-off nozzle for the packaging sector optimises material flow with large cross-sections, reducing both shear and overheating. Its innovative design enables very short switching times, making it especially valuable for applications with short cycle times. This nozzle enhances product quality and increases process reliability while maintaining high production speeds. The specially designed core components and tailored coatings minimise leakage and extend the nozzle’s service life.
New Spherical Check Valve: Precision and Reliability
ENGEL’s spherical check valve (Image 1) is a significant innovation that greatly reduces the risk of leakage during injection. Its specially developed geometry allows for high reproducibility and improves the disengagement of the check ring from the check tip before the start of injection. Combined with the additional short-stroke design, the check valve exhibits excellent sealing behaviour, eliminating the need for compression relief after dosing. This check valve is already available on the market and has received very positive feedback from customers.

High-Performance Screws: Efficient and Consistent Plastic Processing
ENGEL offers tailored solutions to meet diverse production requirements. The three-zone mixing screw sets new standards by optimally processing a wide range of plastics while providing excellent homogenisation at high throughput rates.
Alternatively, barrier screws are available in various lengths and geometries, delivering the shortest cycle times and long service life. Common to all solutions is the production of a homogeneous melt, both materially and thermally, ensuring high-quality end products.
