An intelligent vertical WITTMANN BATTENFELD machine at K 2016

News 19.10.2016

WITTMANN BATTENFELD leads the plastics sector with its vertical rotary table machines providing free all-round access to mold area. These are available as 40 to 270 ton models with 752 to 1,755 mm rotary tables. Optional light screens protect the insertion/removal zone, which keeps the access optimal and guarantees safe implementation of machine automation. This feature makes vertical rotary table machines ideal for automatic and manual part removal alike.

At K 2016 trade show, the company is displaying for the first time a vertical servo-driven C-frame machine that also enjoys the new control system baptized UNILOG B8. The machine is presently available as 40- and 80-ton models. The clamping and injection units of these are both vertically positioned; clamping unit is barrier-free, and the injection one is servo-controlled. The C-shaped frame design with two clamping cylinders, symmetrically placed, keeps the mold area unobstructed and operator access extremely free.

The CM machine series boasts great power savings, top precision and low noise thanks to a ServoPower drive as standard. CM are available as 100% vertical machines, or can be equipped with a rotary or a sliding table. Machine size depends on specific application requirements. Thus, CM 40 machines can be supplied as a compact or a large-size model with rotary table diameter of 752 or 1280 millimeters, respectively, while CM 80 can be fit with tables of 1280 or 1520 mm in diameter.
At the German trade show, a CM 40/210 R1280 will be showcased producing PBT connector housings with inserts in a two-cavity mold. WITTMANN W821 robot system places the inserts in mold cavities and takes out finished housings. Then, it hands over the parts to a W818 robot with a machine vision system that picks up the housings and places them on trays.
