SmartPower injection molding machines developed by WITTMANN BATTENFELD are notable for energy efficiency thanks to their servo drive technology. Multicomponent machines benefit from this technology as well, injection units of SmartPower COMBIMOULD machines being each equipped with a dedicated compact servo-hydraulic drive. Users of SmartPower technology benefit from an unequalled reduction of power consumption and from well-synchronized operation of injection units. As a result, both cycle times and power requirements are cut down.
The COMBIMOULD drive units come integrated in the machine frame, and the distribution cabinet kept its standard size as well thanks to internal space available for extra amplifier units. This makes the multicomponent machine as compact as the standard SmartPower one. Moreover, the hydraulic SmartPower machines boast larger space between tie-bars, which allows installing bigger rotary tables and molds, a feature ideally fit for multicomponent applications.

SmartPower COMBIMOULD injection molding machines are just as flexible as their predecessors of the HM series were. Thanks to a modular design, new machines can be supplied as standard in V, S or L configuration, or as custom-made H-H, for example.
Just as every updated equipment series by WITTMANN BATTENFELD, these machines benefit from the newly developed intelligent control system, UNILOG B8. The new “smart screen” feature of the latter is especially handy for COMBIMOULD machines: visualizing and managing two separate functions on a same screen at the same time means monitoring the performance of two units at one stroke.
Overall, the new multicomponent SmartPower machines are capable to ease injection molding of multicolor, composite, or assembly parts while keeping power consumption at a minimum. COMBIMOULD machines are available in the 60 to 350 ton clamping force range in the SmartPower series. Apropos of bigger clamping forces (up to 2,000 ton), the corresponding COMBIMOULD machines are built upon MacroPower series.
Visitors of K 2016 are witnessing live production of drinking cups from liquid silicone and thermoplastic in an eight-cavity mold by ACH Werkzeugbau on a SmartPower 180/525H/210L machine. Finished parts are removed from the mold and deposited by a WITTMANN W832 pro automation system.
