Nissei ASB introduces new ISBM capability

Nissei ASB introduces new ISBM capability

News 19.01.2017

Continuing its tradition of innovation in one-step injection stretch blow molding (ISBM) machines, Nissei ASB Machine Co, Ltd., will introduce a new capability at Plastivision India, 19-23 Jan. 2017.

Nissei now offers machines specifically adapted for molding high-end water bottles and baby feeding bottles with Eastman Tritan™ copolyester. To optimize processing and bottle quality using Tritan, Nissei has enhanced the daylight of its standard DPH machine to accommodate a longer preform, which improves ISBM results with Tritan. Enhanced clearance also allows a larger injection unit size than previous models.

Demonstration model will run a four-cavity mold at a cycle time of 14 seconds

For the first time in India, Nissei will display its versatile ASB-70DPH at Plastivision 2017 producing high-quality sports bottles made with Eastman Tritan™ copolyester onsite. The one-step machine will be running a four-cavity mold to produce a bottle that weighs 90 gms, in an impressive 14-second cycle time. The bottle will offer all the advantages of Tritan, including crystal clarity, outstanding scratch resistance and durability, and the appeal to the health-conscious consumer of being made without bisphenol A (BPA-free).

“The Tritan material can now be successfully processed on our entire range of ASB series machines offered globally,” says Mr. Amitabh Agrawal, senior general manager, marketing and sales, of ASB International Pvt. Ltd. “This includes the ASB-70DPH as well as the ASB-50MB and ASB-12M.”

The growing market opportunity for higher-quality water and baby bottles

Water bottles in India and many countries in the region have traditionally used polyethylene terephthalate (PET) or polypropylene. However, a growing consumer demand for better looking, longer lasting bottles that are more resistant to scratching and shattering offers great opportunity for bottles made with Eastman Tritan™ copolyester.

Eastman has worked closely with Nissei to fine-tune the processability of Tritan for ISBM production. Most important has been the preform design, which is critical for molding bottles with consistent quality, transparency and uniform wall thickness.

“We expect our collaboration on Eastman Tritan™ copolyester to open new market possibilities in India for both ASB and Eastman,” says Mr. Agrawal. “The flexibility now offered with Tritan gives a broader product range for consumers who are interested in a higher quality bottle.”
