ENGEL North America, member of the ENGEL group, a world leader in the design and manufacture of injection molding machines and parts-handling automation, will exhibit an ENGEL victory 200/120 hy-tech US – executed for liquid silicone molding – at the upcoming Advanced Design & Manufacturing show, March 29-30, 2017 in Cleveland, OH. The machine will be running a four cavity duck bill mold, with in-mold slitting, provided by M.R. Mold & Engineering Corp.
The maximum in flexibility and efficiency
The ENGEL victory line of injection molding machines offers a flexible modular system, making it the machine of choice for producing many different technically complex parts or for running an extensive selection of process technologies. With its tie-bar-less design, the ENGEL victory provides absolute freedom for complex mold design, rapid mold change and unobstructed robot movements. This innovative machine also allows you to select a machine size based specifically on clamp force requirements –not mold dimensions -- thereby using less production space and reducing investment costs.
The system
ENGEL’s 120 US ton tie-bar-less machine is the foundation of the manufacturing cell being displayed, and is equipped for the processing of liquid silicone rubber. The machine will be running a four cavity duck bill mold featuring a 4 drop valve gated cold runner – fully automatic – and in-mold slitting by a vertical axis demolding system manufactured by M.R. Mold & Engineering Corp. The demolding system provides a renewable surface for every slit.
The machine will also be equipped with a Silcomix liquid silicone dispensing system provided by Dopag. The Silcomix is designed to process all common liquid silicone rubbers from a variety of container sizes. The pumping system is balanced so as to use all but 1% of raw materials, which provides potential cost savings. The system is controlled by a Dopag metering computer that has a communication interface to the molding machine.
The material being utilized is Momentive SiloprenTM LSR 4655 SL, a high-quality silicone rubber compound that is ISO 10993 (parts 5, 6, 10, 11) and USP class VI compliant, and therefore meets the strict safety requirements of the health care sector. This self-lubricating material provides delayed lubricant surface bloom after vulcanization which improves the longevity of the molded parts and reduces the occurrence of self-healing of slit valves. The material has been supplied by Momentive Performance Materials Inc.
