Dr. Jason Lyons was named vice president of divisions for the Society of Plastics Engineers (SPE) by President Raed Al Zu’bi. Lyons succeeds Creig Bowland, who resigned in August. In addition to his new post, Lyons also joins the SPE executive board as the primary leadership interface for SPE divisions. Additionally, he will serve as a member of the ANTEC® Task Force. Lyons has held various leadership positions with SPE since 2007. He has served as chair and technical program chair of the engineering properties and structure division, as well as an active member of the Additive Manufacturing Special Interest Group board. He is currently business manager of KepstanTM for Arkema in Pennsylvania.
“Jason’s dedication and passion to our society and the desire, that we all share, for it to continue to effectively serve our plastics professionals and industry is why I appointed him to this position,” Al Zu’bi said in a statement. “He will be a valuable addition to our executive board.”
Lyons says this position will allow him to be an advocate for change and growth in the plastics industry. “I look forward to serving SPE’s members, divisions, and our industry,” Lyons said in a statement. “SPE needs to continue to grow and change, so that we can remain relevant to our stakeholders. I look forward to being a driver of that change for future success.”
