The Material Research Center of CoreTech System Co., Ltd. (Moldex3D) successfully passed ISO/IEC 17025 Certification at the end of 2017. Its materials characterization abilities on shear viscosity, heat capacity and dynamic viscosity are approved in compliance with international standards.
“Moldex3D Material Research Center has been dedicated to providing customers with diversified and reliable material characterization reports,” said Dr. Venny Yang, President of Moldex3D. “We work hard in integrating the practical characterization experience for our customers’ R&D requirements with fundamental research of injection molding simulation. We also continue investing in the equipment, personnel, process improvement and quality control. On the other hand, other competitors do not have materials characterization abilities, or spin off the laboratory from their companies. It causes great gap between their customers’ product development and validation. Therefore, Moldex3D is the only one who is able to provide faster and more high-quality technical services in the competitive global manufacturing market.”
Moldex3D’s items which passed ISO 17025 are briefly interpreted below. The shear viscosity of plastics in injection molding is measured by the capillary viscometer at three different processing temperatures and a reasonable range of shear rates. Shear viscosity, which is crucial to calculating sprue pressure, melt front advancement, and clamping force, is necessary for all Moldex3D analyses.
Heat capacity is also crucial and can be measured using a standard differential scanning calorimeter. Dynamic viscosity is measured by a cone-and-plate/parallel plate viscometer.
“The recognition of ISO 17025 signifies that Moldex3D’s material characterization abilities meet the international requirements, and the customers will be more confident with our examination reports” said Dr. Tober Sun, Manager of Product Support Division at Moldex3D. “In the evaluation process, the data processing abilities of our staff as well as the technical and management standards are all leveled up.”
According to Dr. Sun, Moldex3D Material Research Center will continue enhancing quality control systems in the future and undergo management examination at least once per year.
About ISO 17025
ISO/IEC 17025, established by International Organization for Standardization and International Electrotechnical Commission, specifies the general requirements for the competence, impartiality and consistent operation of laboratories. Almost all of the national standardization agencies and certification agencies around the globe have passed ISO 17025. Moldex3D Material Research Center just obtained ISO 17025 certification from Taiwan Accreditation Foundation (TAF) on Dec. 25, 2017.
