Components for medical and electronic applications

Components for medical and electronic applications

News 21.02.2019

At TCT Asia, running from 21 to 23 February 2019, ARBURG is showcasing the additive manufacturing of functional plastic parts made from qualified original materials. Two freeformers are processing TPE-S and PC for applications in medical technology and electronics.

Original materials for medical and electronic components
At TCT Asia, two freeformer 200-3X units are to demonstrate that ARBURG Plastic Freeforming (APF) is ideally suited to the industrial additive manufacturing of functional parts. The first machine uses FDA-approved TPE-S to produce particularly soft medical components with the aid of a support material. The material with Shore A hardness 32 can only be processed on the freeformer. The second exhibit processes aerospace-approved PC with flame-proof properties for applications in the electronics industry.

Numerous components and interactive stations
Trade visitors to TCT Asia can gain an impression of the capabilities of the freeformers based on numerous parts. Exhibited parts are including gripper fingers in hard/soft combinations, cable clips made from PP, transparent test discs made from PMMA and bellows made from elastic TPE. At interactive stations, a selection of functional parts can be tested for functionality and resilience.

A wide range for industrial additive manufacturing
With the 200-3X freeformer, featuring two discharge units, ARBURG already covers a wide spectrum for industrial additive manufacturing. The new 300-3X freeformer is even able to process three components, producing complex functional parts in resilient hard/soft combinations with support structures. To date, this is unique within the industry.
