Manufacturers of thin-wall packaging are currently facing major challenges: Price increases for energy and materials are squeezing margins and increasing planning uncertainty. In addition, ever-increasing demands on recyclability are leading to more complex manufacturing processes and products. At the Thin-Wall Packaging Day, ENGEL will be presenting solutions for injection moulding companies to make the production of plastic packaging sustainable, profitable and future-proof.
Workshops and presentations based on practical application examples form the core of the event |
At the Thin-Wall Packaging Day on 8 February 2024, hosted at the company headquarters in Schwertberg/Austria, ENGEL will present the current state-of-the-art technologies for thin-wall injection moulding as well as an outlook on further developments. The event combines presentations by renowned experts and in-depth insights based on concrete best-practice examples with interactive workshops on sample applications, thus offering a comprehensive overview of ENGEL's innovations for the packaging market.
"In recent years, we have been working intensively on the further development of our injection moulding machines and solutions for thin-wall injection moulding," says Christoph Lhota, Head of ENGEL's Packaging business unit. "The requirements from the market have always been decisive for all our projects."
Energy efficiency, performance, system availability and circular economy as core topics
In addition to several technical presentations, the exhibits convey ENGEL's answers to the challenges of the market: an all-electric e-motion 280 injection moulding machine demonstrates the energy-saving potential for demanding thin-wall applications. On an e-speed 280, ENGEL once again underlines the company's pioneering role in circular economy with the latest development stage in rPET injection moulding. A premiere is the duo speed 500, which demonstrates the practical use of fast two-platen injection moulding machines for thin-wall injection moulding.
Based on these sample applications, participants will also learn about the services ENGEL offers beyond the injection moulding machine for the economic success of plastic packaging manufacturers: Process optimisation to utilise the full potential of the machine, seamless monitoring of production by means of shop floor monitoring and rapid handling of service cases are just a few examples.
The entire ENGEL machine portfolio for the packaging industry awaits participants at the ENGEL Packaging Centre |
In addition, a comprehensive overview of ENGEL's machine portfolio for packaging applications will be provided. Choosing the right injection moulding machine for the respective application is the basis for optimal utilisation of machine performance. In addition to the already mentioned e-motion, e-speed and duo speed series, the particularly compact, all-electric e-mac series will also be presented as an efficient solution for mid-performance applications.
The event will be complemented by a varied supporting programme: after the core programme, interested participants can look forward to networking opportunities with experts, an exhibition foyer with partner companies and guided tours of the ENGEL headquarters. Participants from more distant regions have the option of arriving the day before and taking part in the pre-event programme, consisting of company tours and a networking dinner in the form of a winter BBQ.
A special highlight will be offered towards the end of the lecture series: Guest speaker Christoph Holz, an expert in the field of digitalisation, will introduce the audience to the factory of the future - with artificial intelligence - using specialist knowledge, logic, and humour.
From machine supplier to business enabler
With numerous innovations that have been specifically tailored to the future challenges of the market, ENGEL is reinforcing the company's mission statement as a key contributor to the economic success of its customers.
"For us, the Thin-Wall Packaging Day is not just about presenting our solutions, but also about proving ourselves as an innovative, reliable partner for the industry," says Ivica Puskaric, Sales Manager Packaging at ENGEL, characterising the event. "We want to establish a dialogue with our customers and approach the market even more closely."
