Clean room version of MicroPower 15/10.

From 14 to 17 November 2016, WITTMANN BATTENFELD will be presenting an interesting clean room micro and nano injection molding application for medical technology to interested trade visitors at the Compamed in Düsseldorf.

With its machines designed for clean room manufacturing, the all-electric EcoPower series and the machines from the MicroPower series, WITTMANN BATTENFELD has been well established in medical technology for a number of years. Last year, the company concentrated its medical technology activities in a separate focus group, so that it is now in a position to offer expert counseling and project planning for medical technology applications for micro and nano injection molding as well as all other applications in the area of medical technology. After the MicroPower and EcoPower machine series, the servo-hydraulic SmartPower series has now also been examined and validated at the company’s in-house clean room test center.

At the Compamed, WITTMANN BATTENFELD will demonstrate its competence in medical technology with a machine designed for small and micro parts from the MicroPower series. This machine series stands out by its high cost-efficiency, speed and, above all, process reliability. Thermally homogeneous melt is injected via a two-step screw-and-plunger injection unit with shot volumes ranging from 0.05 to 4 cm3. This makes it possible to turn out top-quality parts with extremely stable production with short cycle times.

At the Compamed, the carrier parts of a “lab-on-a-chip”, which serves to analyze blood particles, will be produced in a clean room environment on a MicroPower 15/10 by assembly injection molding with a 2x1-cavity mold supplied by Microsystems UK. The parts will be removed by a W8VS2 Scara robot integrated in the machine. They will subsequently be passed on to an integrated quality inspection unit and there examined by means of image processing.

The machine on display comes as a full-fledged clean-room production cell, equipped with a rotary disk, parts removal handling device, WITTMANN dryer DRYMAX Micro, integrated quality inspection by image processing, as well as a clean-room module, which produces class 6 clean air according to the ISO 14644-1 standard.
