Collaboration seeks to merge partners' unique strengths

News 20.12.2024

TactoTek, the trailblazer of In-Mold Structural Electronics (IMSE®) technology, is pleased to announce a strategic partnership with Sundberg-Ferar, a recognized leader in industrial design and innovation. This collaboration seeks to merge their unique strengths, combining TactoTek’s advanced electronic integration techniques with Sundberg-Ferar’s 90 years of expertise in human-centered design. Together, they are dedicated to redefining the landscape of design and technology, creating next-generation solutions that elevate user experiences across several sectors, including mobility and consumer electronics.

As TactoTek expands its presence in the U.S., this partnership accentuates its commitment to deepening relationships with global innovators. TactoTek is poised to strengthen its foothold in the North American market by co-developing next-generation products that merge cutting-edge electronics with thoughtful, user-centric design. Sundberg-Ferar’s rich history in crafting user-centered solutions will ensure that every product is designed with the end-user in mind, focusing on usability, accessibility, and aesthetic appeal. TactoTek’s IMSE® technology enables ideal experiences by enabling the integration of advanced electronic functionalities directly into thin, single piece product structures, leading to more compact and efficient designs. Together, they aim to revolutionize interactive product experiences and how brands bring them to life across with advanced engineering, design and manufacturing capabilities.

"Working with TactoTek represents a significant step forward in our mission to create meaningful solutions," said David Thimm, Director of Design at Sundberg-Ferar. "By integrating our design capabilities with TactoTek's technology, we can offer forward thinking companies unparalleled innovation. We are committed to delivering products that not only look and work great but also provide enhanced durability, manufacturing efficiencies and simplified structural complexities."

To celebrate this collaboration, Sundberg-Ferar and TactoTek will be participating at CES 2025 in Las Vegas from January 7–10, 2025. Attendees can meet with both teams during the ‘Design Hour with Sundberg-Ferar’ taking place at the TactoTek suite in the Venetian resort on Thursday January 9th to see how designers are applying IMSE technology and discuss potential collaborations.

“TactoTek’s IMSE technology delivers new degrees of design freedom and turns passive surfaces into light, thin, 3-dimensional interactive structures,” said Thomas Lipscomb, VP Americas at TactoTek. “Sundberg-Ferar has the design vision and user-experience insights to create transformational solutions with IMSE.”
