Taking a bold step into the future of beverage packaging, corvaglia has announced a comprehensive solution portfolio tailored to the GME 30.40 neck finish. This modular, adaptable product line highlights the company’s commitment to efficiency, design diversity, and compliance with environmental regulations.
“Years ago, we made a consistent move toward modern and innovative bottle neck finishes like the GME 30.40 and developed closures that align various customer needs with regulatory requirements,” says Michael Krueger, CEO of the corvaglia group.
At the heart of this innovation is corvaglia’s proven modular mold system. Developed according to the vision of company founder Romeo Corvaglia, the system uses clusters of four cavities, scalable up to 96 or 128 cavities. A standout feature is the quick switch between tethered and non-tethered closures via a simple slider change, enabling rapid adaptation to evolving market and regulatory demands.
The portfolio offers three tamper-evident band designs:
• Interference Band (classic injection molded, for simple and cost-effective production)
• Adaptive Flex-Band (injection molded with flaps, for easy application on filling lines)
• Slitted & Folded Band (combines the best of the previous two options)
Each variant is available in both tethered and non-tethered versions. All tethered models fully comply with EU Directive 2019/904, underscoring corvaglia’s forward-looking compliance strategy.
To meet diverse regional preferences, the closures are offered in three different outer designs, resulting in 18 customizable combinations.
In addition to GME 30.40, the modular system also supports other common neck finishes, including GME 32.04 (1881), GME 30.26 (29/25), and GME 30.25 (38mm Aseptic), further enhancing its relevance for global beverage operations. With this launch, corvaglia reinforces its reputation as a technology pioneer in closures and future-proof injection molding solutions for the global beverage industry.
In addition to the GME 30.40 portfolio, corvaglia will present another product innovation at drinktec 2025: SabreCap – the company’s first closure specifically developed for aseptic carton packaging.
SabreCap Launch – Redefining Closures for Aseptic Carton Packaging
SabreCap is corvaglia’s first closure specifically developed for aseptic carton packaging. Building on over 30 years of experience with PET bottle closures, corvaglia enters a new category with a product that combines technical precision, consumer convenience, and sustainability.
SabreCap features a unique cutting surface that ensures clean perforation of the sealing foil. This design enables effortless pouring and reduces residue, benefiting both the consumer experience and food waste reduction.
From a production standpoint, the closure integrates seamlessly into existing filling lines without requiring technical modifications. Mass production of SabreCap began earlier this year at corvaglia’s U.S. site in Newnan, Georgia.
“We are proud to successfully transfer our closure expertise from the PET world into carton packaging. SabreCap combines top production efficiency with user-friendliness and sustainability – a forward-looking solution for the packaging industry,” said Michael Krueger, CEO of the corvaglia group.
This step marks a significant milestone in corvaglia’s innovation journey, expanding the company’s portfolio and strengthening its role as a key player in next-generation packaging technologies.
The corvaglia team looks forward to engaging with visitors in Munich on innovation, sustainability, and future-proof closure solutions. In addition to technical experts, sales representatives from all regions will be available.
