Momentive Performance Materials Inc. will be displaying live its new Silopren LSR 4655 SL liquid silicone rubber at the forthcoming MD&M West show held in the Californian town of Anaheim. Visitors of the company’s booth will see a BOY injection press, equipped with a four-cavity LSR mold by Kipe and 2KM dosing unit, producing one-way slotted access valves. This demonstration is intended to highlight features and advantages of the new LSR.
Silopren LSR 4655 SL is a two-component liquid silicone rubber with self-lubricating properties: injection-molded parts get lubricious surface after being vulcanized. This allows for improving slip in specialized tasks where traditional silicone molded parts cannot fulfil the requirements. Thus, thanks to Silopren LSR 4655 SL, no secondary lubrication is needed for friction coefficient reduction. In turn, this increases mounting efficiency of injection-molded components at equipment assembly.
Silopren LSR 4655 SL may as well be customized in order to meet specific requirements for polymer hardness and lubricity, and, thereby, part performance. LSR 4655 SL liquid silicone rubber is biocompatible as per USP Class VI and ISO 10993 (parts 5, 6, 10, and 11) standards.
The entire range of Momentive liquid silicone rubber (LSR) materials makes it possible for designers and manufacturers of health care devices to implement improved material features for the most critical applications: O-rings and other gaskets, stoppers, needle-free access valves, and assembled parts.
