“Blasformen 2019”, the conference organized by VDI, took place in Dusseldorf.
VDI, with around 154,000 members, is Germany's largest engineers association. For over 150 years, the association has supported engineers and technical managers organizing important events and training courses. Representing ST, Jörn Schütte, Regional Sales Manager, and Marco Solinas, Global Product Manager, took part to the Blasformen conference as speakers, presenting a comparison between different configurations in multiple cavity blow moulding, with a particular focus on industrial packaging of big dimensions.
The following configurations have been shown: increasing the number of cavities in the mold (vertically or horizontally), increasing the number of clamping units and the increment of the number of parisons produced by the extrusion head. Each configuration has been explained highlighting for each the advantages and disadvantages in the possible applications. Eventually there has been an application example with cost-benefit analysis.
